Gautam Gambhir hits out at Delhi CM Over AAP's Allegation; says 'I am ashamed that Arvind Kejriwal is my CM'

Following the allegation by AAP leader Atishi Marlena on his East Delhi fellow candidate Gautam Gambhir of distributing derogatory pamphlets of her, Gambhir spoke exclusively to Republic Bharat and reiterated that such allegations cannot be baseless and they(AAP) must present proof against him in the matter. He also added that he has not made any negative comments against anyone since the election campaign began.

He said: "We will file a defamation case against them. And if you (AAP) think I have done this why are you not filing a criminal case against me? We will file a defamation case. I have not come into politics for power, good people do not want to join politics because they have to face people like Arvind Kejriwal, only because of people like Kejriwal, I hope after this episode good people will join politics to give an answer to people like Kejriwal. 

He then alleged that the entire episode has been woven to malign his image. He said: 

"I played for the country for 15 years, on the first day, in 15 hours so many allegations were made against me, but did I allege anything? The day I filed the nomination, I went to her and said all the best to her. I told her whoever wins should serve the people of Delhi, I don't want to do bad politics, this is not my bread and butter, I have joined politics only for serving people. Whether I win or I lose, you will not see any negative comment from my side. People of this country are fed up of listening negative comments, Arvind Kejriwal ji has stooped so low, he is the head of the party after all. Why is he not giving me legal notice, I will give him a legal notice for sure because I feel this has been done to malign my image."

He then slammed Cheif Minister of Delhi and AAP chief saying:

"I cannot do politics like Arvind Kejriwal. I always call him Arvind Kejriwal ji. I am ashamed that I am defending myself on this issue. I am ashamed that Arvind Kejriwal is my CM."

AAP's East Delhi candidate Atishi on Thursday alleged that her opponent Gautam Gambhir circulated pamphlets that questioned her morals contained objectionable and deeply offensive remarks about her. Addressing a press briefing in the matter, Atishi broke down while reading the content of the pamphlet, following which posed one question at BJP's Gautam Gambhir.

Delhi sends seven Lok Sabha MPs to the Parliament and is polling on May 12. the result of the election will be declared on May 23.
