  • As NDA storms to victory in the 2019 general elections, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra Deol congratulated  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his elder son Sunny Deol, who is the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate from Gurdaspur.
  • The actor also congratulated his wife actor turned politician Hema Malini, who is also representing BJP in Mathura.

As NDA storms to victory in the 2019 general elections, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra Deol congratulated  Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his elder son Sunny Deol, who is the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) candidate from Gurdaspur. The actor took to Twitter and shared a picture where Sunny can be seen shaking hand with PM Modi.

He captioned the post saying, "Faqeer Badshah Modi JI, Dharti puttra sunny Deol, Congratulations. Achhe Din Yaqeenan Ayen Ge (King Modi ji, son of soil Suuny Deol, congratulation. Good days will definitely come)".

Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol contested the election from Gurdaspur seat against Congress leader and sitting MP Sunil Jakhar from Gurdaspur. The actor has been leading the polls with 548780 votes, while Sunil Jakhar currently stands at 471548. 

Meanwhile, the 'Sholay' actor also extended warm greetings to his wife, actor turned politician Hema Malini, who is also representing BJP in Mathura. Sharing a picture of the 'Dream Girl' with the Prime Minister, Dharmendra wrote, "Hema, Congratulations. We love Mother India. We have proved in Bikaner and Mathura. We will keep our flag flying. always."

Actor-turned-politician Hema Malini who contested against Narendra Singh of the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and local industrialist Mahesh Pathak of Congress from Mathura, has bagged 523056 votes as of now beating his opponents.

Counting of votes for 542 Lok Sabha seats is underway and the latest trends show Bharatiya Janata Party leading the Lok Sabha polls. Beside Dharmendra, several other Bollywood celebrities including Anupam Kher, Siddharth, Varun Dhawan, Riteish Deshmukh have been putting forward their political opinions since morning. 

The 2019 elections saw high-octane electric campaigning from both sides as the BJP went hammer and tongs, expressing confidence at each turn that it would not only repeat but also better its tally of 282 votes from five years earlier, whereas the Congress and other Opposition parties, also campaigned heavily though without being able to make any convincing show of unity. The Lok Sabha polls that commenced on April 11 and wrapped up on May 19, saw approximately 900 million voters exercising their franchise and deciding the fate of 7,928 candidates across 542 seats in the country.
