In a shocking turn of events, the Congress Party has chosen Sam Pitroda to lead the Party's Campaign Monitoring Committee.
Party leaders Pawan Khera, Rohan Gupta, Praveen Chaturvedi, Divya Spandana and Manish Chatrath are also a part of this committee which will monitor publicity and campaigns for the Congress during the Lok Sabha elections along with input to leaders.
As per sources, an advertisement agency has also been appointed for the same.
Chairman of Overseas Indian National Congress and a close confidant of party president Rahul Gandhi, Pitroda had recently courted controversy by questioning the government for evidence and the death toll in the air strike carried out by the Indian Air Force on Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terror camp in retaliation to Pulwama terror attack.
"If you say 300 people were killed, we all need to know that. All the Indians need to know that. Then comes the global media which says nobody was killed, I look bad as an Indian citizen. I would like to know more as I have read in the New York Times & other newspapers, what did we really attack? We really killed 300 people?"
He further cited that the ‘global media’ said that nobody was killed to which received criticisms from Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, BJP president Amit Shah and several other party leaders.
Taking it to Twitter, PM Narendra Modi launched a blistering attack on the Rahul Gandhi-led Congress party and other Opposition leaders over Sam Pitroda's comments on Pulwama terror attack. Here's what he said-
Pitroda, who is credited with being the architect of the telecom revolution under Rajiv Gandhi, also alleged that science and technology had been on the back burner in a big way under the Modi government.
Pitroda is also part of the 19-member Manifesto Committee set up by the Congress to come out with the party's manifesto for the general elections.
