Alpesh Thakore joined Indian National Congress (INC) just before the Gujarat Assembly elections of 2017. It was quite a massive show of strength with which he held hands with Rahul Gandhi at a rally where more than 20,000 people attended. In less than three years, the very same people saw him abuse the Congress party in his first ever rally after resigning from the grand old party in Banaskatha
However, it is known that Alpesh has had a rocky relationship with the Congress party and since the past one year, he has held his position hostage. He even tried to negotiate several deals with BJP (which he confessed to in a press conference in Ahmedabad). So, it was no surprise that when Thakore Sena gave him an ultimatum, he jumped at the chance, sent in his resignation.
On his departure from the party, he even spilled some the secrets of in-fighting, and internal politics that went on in the Congress party.
Thakore said, "At that time we had the people's mandate and we had a belief that there will be a change, there will be a change in the party's system. Workers will work honestly, the backward, downtrodden and poor won't be sidelined. We thought we would be respected and our people will be given appropriate positions. There were a lot of things, but as time passed but we have been cheated in a lot of things."
