At a public rally in Maharashtra, on Wednesday NCP chief Sharad Pawar has said he won’t retort to PM Narendra Modi’s attack at the Wardha rally claiming that Pawar had withdrawn from the upcoming Lok Sabha polls as he had realized that the situation was not 'favourable' for him to contest. PM Modi had also said that Pawar was 'weakened by family feuds led by his nephew and that he was losing his grip on the NCP'.

"Sharad Pawar ji is also aware which way the wind is blowing. This time, the people of the country have forced big guns to run, leaving the (election) ground. Today Pawar sahab has been bowled by people. His false promises have been exposed and he has been hit-wicket by his nephew" said Modi on Monday.

Responding to the attack, Pawar cited that his mother’s upbringing and culture did not allow him to respond to such jibes, saying:

"Modi is launching personal attacks wherever he goes. But I will not do so as I am influenced by my mother. Personal criticism does not fit in our culture," said Pawar on Tuesday, adding that the Prime Minister need not be bothered about family feuds in the NCP.

The rally at which Pawar was speaking was arranged for the Swabhimani Paksha MP Raju Shetti, who is the Opposition alliance’s candidate from Hatkanangle and the NCP’s Kolhapur candidate Dhananjay Mahadik.

Speaking further on PM Modi’s attacks, Pawar had said:

"It was expected of the prime minister that he would make new announcements at the Wardha rally. But instead, he presented the picture of the NCP before people. He talked about wrong differences with Ajit Pawar who is a tadafdaar (dynamic) leaders and is loyal to the party."
