Hours after the BJP released its manifesto, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday spoke to Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami.

With the brazen Pulwama terror carried by Pakistan and the Indian government's stern response to it, Sitharaman was asked why the BJP manifesto did not mention the topic of Pakistan backed terrorism.

"We have been repeatedly saying that the terror fountain lies in Pakistan, even if they wish to can't hide this fact. We are ones who have clearly taken a call on isolating Pakistan. We are clearly asking Pakistan to take necessary steps to contain terror. So there's no shying away from that," she said.

When questioned over the allegations of the Opposition that BJP has been repeatedly including the issues of Ram Mandir, Article 370 and unified civil code (UCC) in their manifestos, the Raksha Mantri said that these are the issues for which they want to take people ahead with them which is 'time consuming'

She said, "The three issues mentioned, all three are deep and sensitive issues for which yes we do take an oath but while moving foward we want to take people along with us, time-consuming. But the fact is that, we don't forget it after mentioning once, but we have mentioned it again. Yes, we will go forward and take these issues along."
