Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Congress chief Rahul Gandhi stooped to a new low in politics when he resorted to attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Addressing a gathering on Tuesday, the Congress president named the Prime Minister "Darpok".

"Aap ab samajhiye. Mai Narendra Modi ke saath panch saal se laad raha hoon, Samajh gaya hoon. Mai BJP ke kisi bhi neta se keh dete hoon aap ek baat karo, Narendra Modi ji lko 10 minute mere saath khada kardo aur debate kara do. National security pe debate kara do Rafale pe karo do. Bhaag jayeg? Mai kehta hoon ke yeh darpook vyakti hai".

(You all try to understand. I am fighting Narendra Modi for the past 5 years now and I have understood him. I want to convey this to all BJP leader, make Narendra Modi share stage with me, let's have a debate. Let's have a debate on National Security or Rafale. What? He will run away? This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi stepped up his attack on the Congress, saying had its leaders acted wisely, Pakistan would not have been created.

Addressing a poll rally here, Modi also appeared to be treading sensitive ground, by asking first-time voters to dedicate their vote to those who carried out the air strike in Balakot.

"Can your first vote be dedicated to those who carried out the air strike," Modi said, appealing to first-time voters.Pakistan would not have born in 1947 had Congress leaders acted wisely in the pre-Independence era".

The Congress party's manifesto speaks the same language as that of Pakistan, he added.
