The day that the nation was waiting for, the General Election Results, the make-or-break for both the Government and the Opposition, has sprung a result on expected lines. The counting for the Lok Sabha elections kicked at 8 am on Thursday and within the first few minutes itself, it was also clear which party is likely to form the next Indian government.
As the BJP nears a dominant win in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, badminton icon Saina Nehwal came forward and congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Twitter. Saina sent her congratulatory messages with #PhirEkBaarModiSarkaar.
Even the netizens came forward and joined the star badminton player in congratulating Modi.
At the same time, the 2012 Olympic bronze medal-winning shuttler also hailed BJP President Amit Shah for the party's victory in the elections.
The Prime Minister himself is leading in Varanasi with a margin of over 3.3 lakh votes while party president Amit Shah was ahead in Gandhinagar in their home state of Gujarat by over 5 lakh votes.
The counting of votes began at 8 am on May 23 in each of the 542 constituencies. With high-pitched and intense election campaigning, the 2019 polls spanned seven phases across two months, ended on May 19.
At the time of publishing (3:26 PM), BJP was dominant with 343 of the 542 Lok Sabha seats that went to polls in seven phases while Congress was at 88 seats according to the reports of the 'Election Commission'.
