PM Narendra Modi may visit his constituency Varanasi before swearing-in ceremony

Ravindra Jaiswal, Member of Legislative Council (MLC), informed about the possible visit before he takes oath as the prime minister.

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi all set to herald a second term after winning the Lok Sabha elections, there is a possibility of his visit to Varanasi before taking the oath. Ravindra Jaiswal, Member of Legislative Council (MLC), informed about the possible visit before he takes oath as the prime minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was also in the fray from the Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, this time won by a huge margin of 4,79,505 votes. During the election campaign, he did road shows in Varanasi and also participated in Ganga Aarti.

He was in the fray with Shalini Yadav of the Samajwadi Party who has received a vote-share of 18.4 percent on the second spot and Ajai Rai of the Congress, who had ended on the third position with 14.38.

"I bow to the citizens of Kashi. Looking forward to serving them," PM Modi wrote to Twitter after winning the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 24 had held a mega roadshow in Varanasi in the presence of a sea of people, taking his parliamentary constituency by storm, a day ahead of filing his nomination papers. Modi started his seven-kilometer roadshow by first garlanding the statue of Banaras Hindu University founder Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and later was cheered by a massive crowd as his cavalcade passed through the ghat areas of the city.

With the official count in the Lok Sabha elections over on Friday, the BJP has secured 303 seats, which is 22 more than it got in the 2014 elections and along with its allies the NDA took its tally up to 352 in the 17th Lok Sabha.
