Samsung announced its first 5G-ready phone, aka the Galaxy S10 5G, at its annual Unpacked keynote event in February alongside the Galaxy S10E, vanilla Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ - it did not however reveal full specs and availability details of the Galaxy S10 5G back then. On Monday, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S10 5G will be available for buying in Korea from April 5 and will expand to additional markets after – possibly the US and Europe to begin with. There’s no word if and when Samsung will launch the Galaxy S10 5G in India.

Samsung had also only briefly touched upon the Galaxy S10 5G specs at Unpacked – it also revealed the full spec sheet and colour variants of the Galaxy S10 5G on Monday. The Galaxy S10 5G will be available in two configurations – 8GB RAM and 256GB storage and 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. The Galaxy S10 5G will be available for buying in as many as three colours - Majestic Black, Royal Gold and Crown Silver.

Although the Galaxy S10 5G looks a lot like the Galaxy S10+, it has a heftier spec sheet in comparison – the Galaxy S10 5G is the most powerful and the most feature rich Galaxy S10 model in Samsung’s portfolio. Its USP feature, is of course, support for 5G connectivity. “With speeds up to roughly 20 times faster than 4G networks, consumers on a 5G network can download a full season of a TV show in minutes, play graphics-rich cloud games, stream 4K video with virtually no lag and enjoy enhanced VR and AR experiences,” Samsung said in a statement summing some of its use cases.

“We are at the beginning of a new era where the incredible speed and connectivity of 5G becomes a reality, bringing the world closer to Samsung’s vision of connected living,” DJ Koh, who is president and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics said while announcing the availability details of the Galaxy S10 5G. “We are proud of the work we’ve accomplished to bring our first 5G smartphone to market and look forward to bringing it to everyone around the world in the coming year.”

Speaking of specs, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G comes with a 6.7-inch (it is the biggest phone in Samsung’s Galaxy S10 lineup) QHD+ dynamic AMOLED screen which is also HDR10+ certified. It will be available in a combination of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (in the US) and Exynos 9820 (globally) processor versions, with up to 8GB RAM and up to 512GB storage. The Galaxy S10 5G, unlike the Galaxy S10E, vanilla Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+, does not support expandable memory.

The Galaxy S10 5G has six cameras in all – four on the back and two on the front. On the rear, it has a 12MP wide (77-degree field of view) sensor with f/1.5 aperture and dual pixel OIS, a 16MP ultra-wide (123-degree field of view) sensor with f/2.2 aperture and fixed focus, a 12MP telephoto sensor with OIS, and a 3D Time-Of-Flight sensor. On the front, it comes with a 10MP sensor with f/1.9 aperture and a secondary 3D Time-Of-Flight sensor

The Galaxy S10 5G also has the biggest battery of the Galaxy S10 lot – a 4,500mAh, and it supports 25W fast charging (which is the most for any Samsung phone to date).

Speaking of physical dimensions, the Galaxy S10 5G weights 198g and measures 7.9mm in thickness.

Samsung could launch the Galaxy S10 5G in India "when the market is ready."
