Reacting to Congress' announcement that Robert Vadra has been roped in as a star campaigner for the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Union Minister for Textiles and BJP Leader Smriti Irani, on Sunday, has warned that people living in the areas where Robert Vadra would campaign to protect their lands:
"If Robert Vadra goes to campaign for Congress, please warn the people living there (where he campaigns) that they protect their lands, as a very famous person who is partial to land is coming there"
Earlier on the same day, ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Congress president Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra had confirmed that he will campaign for the grand old party for the ensuing polls. Speaking to news agency ANI, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi's husband Robert Vadra said that 'he will campaign for Congress party all over India and go to Amethi and Raebareli along with his brother-in-law Rahul Gandhi and mother-in-law Sonia Gandhi during the filing of the nominations papers.
Robert Vadra has been facing allegations of money laundering in the purchase of a London-based property at 12, Bryanston Square worth 1.9 million pounds. He was granted relief on Apil 1 by a special CBI court in a money laundering case and was asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs five lakh and a surety of like amount.
Both UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are awaited to file nomination papers from Raebareli and Amethi respectively for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Congress president Rahul Gandhi, who is fighting from his traditional bastion Amethi in Uttar Pradesh will face BJP Leader Smriti Irani in the Lok Sabha elections. Amethi will be going to polls in the fifth phase of elections on May 6.
