As NDA emerged as the winner of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with over 350 seats, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan extended a congratulatory message for PM Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders on social media.

The counting of votes in 542 Lok Sabha constituencies took place on Thursday, May 23, amidst tight security, culminating the two-month long election process which witnessed high-octane campaigning of the political parties. As NDA emerged as the winner of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with over 350 seats, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan extended a congratulatory message for PM Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders on social media.

The actor in a recent Twitter post said that citizens need to get behind the government they have chosen and should work with it to have their hopes and dreams fulfilled. Further congratulating PM Modi and his party in the post he wrote, "We - as proud Indians - have chosen an establishment with great clarity and now we need to get behind it and work with it to have our hopes and dreams fulfilled. The Electoral Mandate and Democracy is a winner. Big congratulations to PM @narendramodi Ji, @BJP4India, and its leaders."

As the lower house from 29 states and 7 Union Territories (UTs) went to polls, nearly 10 lakh polling booths were set up around the country. As per media reports, around 84 million more voters were in the fray to exercise their franchise than the previous elections. With the nation having concluded the seven phases of the Lok Sabha elections 2019 in a period of 39 days, it is now ready to welcome the next government and consequently the next Prime Minister of the country.
