Following the Exit Polls for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections predicted a second term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA in the office, cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle took to Twitter to talked about the most fascinating thing about the exit polls.
He stated the most fascinating thing about the Exit polls is that they confirm that "India is a mature electorate" which "vote differently for local and national issues". He went onto give the examples of the state of Odisha and the states which had the Assembly Elections in December - Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Rajasthan to elucidate his perception of the exit polls.
Read his tweet here:
As per the Republic-CVoter projections for Odisha, while a neck-to-neck competition between BJP-led NDA and current CM Naveen Patnaik-led BJD is projected, PM Modi-led saffron party makes major inroads into BJD's bastion with 10 and 11 seat-share respectively.
The Republic-Jan Ki Baat Exit Poll also predicts that BJP is likely to win an estimated seat-share between 11 to 13, while BJD is projected to come second with an estimated seat share of 7 to 9, as opposed to 2014 Lok Sabha elections results in which the BJD massively swept 20 Lok Sabha seats leaving just one to the BJP.
Furthermore in the Hindi heartlands of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which went to Assembly polls in December 2018 with Congress coming out as victorious, BJP is projected to bounce right back from Assembly Polls setback as the Congress is likely to lose heavily in these states in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections as per the projections by CVoter and Jan Ki Baat. However, a neck-to-neck battle is predicted for the Congress and the BJP in Chhattisgarh as opposed to the result of the Assembly Election of 2018.
In another tweet, Harsha Bhogle wrote that "the reason he did not put a + option is that 300 is already a projection that few expected and is decisive anyway".
In overall India projections, the Jan Ki Baat exit poll predicts that the NDA will form the Government as it is likely to cross 300+ mark comfortably in the Lok Sabha. However, Congress is predicted to fall short of 100.
