Trouble For BJP? Giriraj Singh Refuses To Contest From Bihar's Begusarai, Seeks Meeting With Amit Shah Over Nawada Seat: Sources

  • After NDA released the list for 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar on Saturday and surprisingly did not give the Nawada Lok Sabha constituency to sitting MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh.

Giriraj Singh, Minister in the Modi cabinet has refused to contend from Bihar's Begusarai seat according to sources. 

As per sources, Union Minister Giriraj Singh in Delhi after meeting with the senior BJP leaders has refused to represent from the Begusarai seat and demanded to contest only from Nawada, where the NDA has placed an LJP representative, Chandan Kumar 

Singh after refusing to fight from Begusarai has pinned the blame on BJP leaders Nityanand Rai and Bhupender Yadav. 

According to sources, after a failed attempt of senior BJP leaders to convince him, Singh has now sought time to meet with party president Amit Shah.

After NDA released the list for 39 out of 40 seats in Bihar on Saturday and surprisingly did not give the Nawada Lok Sabha constituency to sitting MP and Union Minister Giriraj Singh.

Speaking to Republic TV over the development, the Union Minister expressed discontent over not being given the Nawada Lok Sabha seat ticket and told that he is upset the decision of the party's senior leadership. 

"I still have the love and affection of the people of Nawada. I will keep working for Nawada. I have developed a model for the rural economy here. For the government work, I will thank PM and CM of Bihar, that with their support the job no other minister could do, I did," the Union Minister said.

On being asked what was promised to him by the senior leadership of the party over Nawada seat, said I had spoken to the state chief, he had assured me that my seat will not be changed. Later, being asked on the same, he expressed discontent over being contested from Begusarai.

"That is the only dejection. Nothing else. State chief told me, but I will keep on doing my job. There can be many reasons."

In another political development, the Communist Party of India (CPI) has confirmed to field former JNU Student Union president Kanhaiya Kumar from the Begusarai seat in Bihar for the upcoming General Elections.
