The counting of votes has begun for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections for the 542 seats in the 29 states and 7 Union Territories. With the biggest election heading towards the grand finale on May 23, BJP MP Dr Subramanian Swamy spoke to Republic Media Network and exhibited confidence over the victory of NDA (National Democratic Alliance)-led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a clear majority in the 2019 polls.
"NDA will win the majority. There is no doubt in that. Now how much different parties win has to be seen," he said.
On being questioned about the majority of BJP, he said "How does it matter, if the party gets the majority or not. If NDA has the majority, it is enough. We will be anyway the single largest party."
Further responding to the questions over the reports of BSP Supremo Mayawati and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav planning a post-noon trip to the national capital to allegedly hold talks with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, amid the counting of votes, he said:
"Why should be sitting in Uttar Pradesh after being sad? They can come to Delhi. Let them come. It is good that they will be here. They will be able meet the new MPs. But the government will only NDAs."
On May 23, the fate of over 8,000 candidates who contested in 542 constituencies will be declared after the counting of votes.
As per the projections of the Republic Double Exit Poll, NDA-led by BJP is likely to cross the halfway mark in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, with PM Modi securing a second term at the office.
