Along with the country, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat became a participant of the largest festival of democracy as he cast his vote in Maharashtra's Nagpur on Thursday morning. 

After casting his vote, the RSS chief told the media how voting is our 'duty', furthermore encouraged the country to vote. 

He said, "Voting is our duty, everyone should vote" 

The station of the RSS headquarters, the Nagpur constituency's star contender and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari is contesting the seat against Congress' Nana Patole. 

In 2014, Gadkari swept the seat by securing 5,87,767 votes against Congress' Vilas Muttermwar who has won the seat four times in the past. 

Along with Nagpur, six other Maharashtra constituencies goes to poll on the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections including Ramtek, Yavatmal-Washim, Wardha, Bhandara-Gondiya, Gadchiroli-Chimur and Chandrapur.

Maharashtra has a total of 48 Lok Sabha seats that will vote in four phases.

The first phase where 91 seats, 20 states, and 1285 candidates will be put to test, the polls will also be witnessing high profile candidates like -Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju, VK Singh, Mahesh Sharma, Hansraj Ahir, Agatha Sangma, Mukul Sangma, Harish Rawat, Ajay Tamta, Jayant Chaudhary, Satyapal Singh, Nabam Tuki, Renuka Chowdary, Nama Nageswara Rao, Chirag Paswan, Asaduddin Owaisi are some of the key candidates contesting polls during Phase I.
