Republic Media Network had broken the scoop about Congress leader from Punjab Navjot Kaur Sidhu vying for the Chandigarh seat. Now, after the Central Election Committee (CEC) decided to field Pawan Kumar Bansal from Chandigarh for the fifth time, visibly upset Sidhu has spoken about being denied the seat.

The CEC has asked her to prepare form Bathinda, said sources.

However, Sidhu has said that she prefers work from where she lives and that she is not "a flying leader", owing to which wanted to fight from Chandigarh where she has a home.

"We have homes in Chandigarh, Patiala and Amritsar. I can't make more homes and I am not a flying leader. One must be available from morning to evening, people do not accept if you that is not the case. I work daily and want to work from a place where I can show my work," she said.

Pawan Kumar Bansal is from Chandigarh and was a minister in the Congress regime in the state. He had fought the Lok Sabha polls 2014 and lost to BJP's Kirron Kher.

Republic Media Network had broken the scoop that Manish Tewari, Pawan Kumar Bansal and Navjot Kaur Sidhu were eyeing Chandigarh seat for the Lok Sabha 2019 polls.

Manish Tewari had been vying for contesting from this seat since a long time but he was sent to Ludhiana in 2014. But Tewari did not contest because of health issues.

In the National Approval Ratings conducted in March for the Union Territory, the NDA was projected to win the single seat in the Lok Sabha 2019 polls. The AAP was projected to not make any mark in the state.

Vote share projections were as follows: 

NDA: 47.2%
UPA: 31.1%
AAP: 6.6%
Others: 15.1%
