As the country walks into the second phase of Parliamentary elections 2019, BJP's new inductee, Sadhvi Pragya seems to be dominating the current political discourse with strong-worded reactions coming in from across the political spectrum, in retaliation to which, the Hindu sanyasi (hermit) speaking to Republic TV has responded to the verbal attacks hurled towards here, including the 'saffron terror' tag.
Counter-attacking the 'Hindu terror bogey', she accused the Opposition of 'oppressing' her, furthermore elaborated on the 'terrorist' tag affixed with her identity.
She said, "They are very bothered as this is the evident proof of their deeds. I should go to the jail, they have put me in jail by illegal and legal means. They oppressed me. They are annoyed because they tried to kill me but I survived."
"NIA has given me a cleanchit. They called me a terrorist, but somewhere I've got the justice and I'm out on bail now. I'm not out on bail by gaining sympathy, nor have I asked for anyone's sympathy. I am a nationalist. These anti-nations can do whatever they want, but I won't deter, I can die for the nation but won't let it stain," she added.
The Opposition like NC leaders father Farooq and Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and the Congress party have revolted her induction and instant candidature on BJP's ticket for the Bhopal constituency in a political fray against Congress veteran Digvijay Singh. Responding to their verbal attacks that ranged from 'terrorism in politics' to 'she's fit to be in jail', she refuted the 'Hindu terror' attack, further noting how the 'hypocrisy of Congress' who refer to terrorists as 'ji'
She said, "Glad they (Omar Abdullah) did not say I should be hanged, my advice to them would be stay patient. Mehbooba Mufti is very bothered and scare. She likes and supports terrorists, Congress talk about terrorists by referring to them as 'ji' and respect them. These are hypocrites."
"These people declared Hindu terrorists, we have not killed people, they tortured people to say it, that is wrong. Secondly, I did not kill, Hindus don't kill people because its not in our culture. On one hand they say RSS is a terror organisation and on the other they say that we are trying to build a Hindu nation. I don't understand this," she added.
The Congress party over Pragya's case had infamously coined the 'Hindu terror' bogey and further blamed the BJP of pushing their 'Hindutva agenda'
Saffron-clad Sadhvi Pragya (48), with her trademark short hair and sporting a rudraksh mala, became the face of right wing extremism after being arrested by the Maharashtra Anti- Terrorism Squad in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Currently she is out on bail.
