In a major admission, Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that her party has fielded candidates to cut vote share of BJP, and not to win the Lok Sabha elections.
Launching a scathing attack on Congress party over Priyanka Gandhi's statement, BJP National Spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra said that Congress has reduced from GOP (Grand Old Party to VKP (Vote-Katua-Party). Sambit Patra addressed a press briefing in the matter wherein he took down the Congress party, adding that the grand old party is aiming to lose in the election with only one agenda 'Modi Hatao'.
"Today, GOP is equal to VKP. Congress used to call itself Grand Old Party, now it has become Vote-Katua-Party. It used to call itself the largest and oldest party of the country, which now has reduced to Vote-katua-party. Congress' general secretary Priyanka Vadra has accepted it. We are noticing how Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is accepting that Congress party is not fighting to win, but it is fighting to cut the votes. It is now clear that Congress party has lost in the elections, since it is not fighting to win. Priyanka Gandhi earlier also said that they are preparing for 2022. She has accepted that losing their aim and not winning, with only one aim 'Modi Hatao'," the BJP candidate from Odisha's Puri constituency said during the press briefing.
On Priyanka Vadra claiming that the Congress is contesting the election to cut the votes of BJP and not of the Gathbandhan un Uttar Pradesh, Dr Sambit Patra raised an important question:
"Her admission also raises one question. Are they(Congress) with the Gathbandhan, are they against the Gathbandhan? What is this relation called?"
"The BJP will suffer major setback in Uttar Pradesh. It will lose very badly," Priyanka Gandhi said earlier speaking to media in Raebareli, while she was there campaigning for her mother and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
Furthermore, she rebuffed the claims of the political pundits that Congress will harm the SP-BSP-RLD gathbandhan in the 2019 polls.
