Senior Congress leader from Uttar Pradesh, Raj Babbar, on Sunday, stoked a fresh controversy after making the biggest admission on dynasty politics. While talking to the media, Mr Babbar touched upon the issue of Robert Vadra's possible entry in active politics and said: " He is a party of the family. Who will say no to him."
When the reporter asked him about Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's entry in politics, he said:
"Mai itna janta hoon ke Priyanka ji ko lekar sabke maan mai bohot utsah hai. Jis din chunavi rajneeti ke andaar unhone kadam rakha vo chunaav kahi se bhi jeetenge".
(I just know for the fact that everyone is excited about the entry of Priyanka Ji. The minute she will step in to fight elections, she will win from any given constituency.)
Weeks after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra entered active politics and took over as the in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh for the Indian National Congress, her husband Robert Vadra also hinted of following her footsteps. Speaking on the same, he said:
" Bohot clarity hai. Ye parivaar jo hai Congress party ke liye samarpit hai. Isme kaun incharge? Aap Sonia ji ko peche kar denge? Kya yeh hum kar sakte hai. Sonia ji iss parivaar ke mukhiya hai. Unko na Rahul Ji peche kar sakte hai na Piyanka ji. Sabke aapne aapne zimadari hai. Priyanka ji ko mili hai, Rahul ji humare adhakyash hai aur Sonia je ka haath humare upar hai. Agar vo aana chahenge to party bhi iss bari mai sochege. Parivaar ka hissah hai vo. Unko kaun mana karega?"
(There is so much clarity. This family is dedicated to this party. Then who is the in charge? Will you push Sonia Ji back? Can we do this? Sonia Ji is the head of this family. Neither Rahul Ji nor Priyanka Gandhi pushed her back. Everyone has their own responsibility. Priyanka Ji has it, Rahul Ji is our supremo and we have Sonia Ji's blessings. If Robert Vadra wants to join politics then the party will also think over it. He is part of the family. Who will say no to him?)
Earlier in a facebook post, Robert Vadra had written, "The years and months that I spent campaigning and working in different parts of the country, but mainly in UP, gave me a feeling to do more for the people and make smaller changes possible by me." he went on to add, "All these years of experience and learning cannot be just wasted and should be put to better use. Once all these accusations and allegations are over, I feel I should dedicate a larger role in serving the people."
Vadra is currently facing allegations of money laundering and is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate(ED).
The probe agency claims Vadra owns nine properties in London worth around 12 million pounds. It is alleged that these properties were amassed by Vadra during the UPA regime between 2005-10.
