Slamming the Opposition for dragging the Prime Ministers' caste into election rallies, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, on Sunday has said backed PM Modi stating that he (Modi) has done only developmental politics inspired by nationalism.
He continued by comparing the wealth amassed by the RJD and BSP families with the assets of the Prime Minister and said that the Opposition would not succeed by doing caste politics.
Earlier on the same day, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had made casteist allegations against PM Modi calling him 'a fake OBC.'
Taking to Twitter, he said:
"I had already said on April 20 that PM Modi is a fake OBC, I had already said that he will start calling himself an OBC, and yesterday he did the same. He called himself Dalit as well. No matter whatever you say, he was by birth an upper caste but to get votes he will say how many things?"
Yadav had piled on BSP Supremo Mayawati's allegation, who made allegations against PM Modi saying that he has included his community in the OBC category for political gains while addressing a press conference at BSP state office in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.
Retorting to PM Modi's claims that she and Akhilesh had called hin 'Neech', she rubbished his claims adding that they (Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav) had always considered him to belong to the upper caste.
Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi during a rally in Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh made a statement about the ability or lack thereof of the coalition Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav to deal with terrorism and infiltration. He questioned the duo's capability of handling the issues saying that their individual governments in Uttar Pradesh could never even do anything about the gundas in the state.
Uttar Pradesh is set to vote in the remaining four phases of elections. The Indian general election is currently being held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day, the results will be declared.
