  • Congress president Rahul Gandhi made a shocking and derogatory statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP veteran LK Advani

Congress president Rahul Gandhi made a shocking and derogatory statement against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP veteran LK Advani while addressing a rally in Maharashtra on Friday.

Speaking on the 'student-teacher' relationship that PM Modi and senior BJP leader LK Advani shares in the political discourse, the president of the grand old party alleged that 'student' PM Modi hit his 'teacher' LK Advani with a 'shoe' and kicked him out of the stage,

"We call it the relationship of a teacher-student. Who's Modi ji's guru? Advani ji. The student (PM Modi) does not even fold his hands in front of the teacher (LK Advani). He threw him out of the stage. He hit Advani ji with a shoe and threw him out of the stage and then he talks about Hindu religion. Where is it written in the Hindu religion that you should hit people?", Rahul Gandhi said while addressing the public rally.

This statement has come in the light of the development in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 wherein BJP chief Amit Shah was given Gujarat's Gandhinagar seat to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha elections dropping veteran LK Advani, who had won six times from that seat in the past.

Earlier, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also expressed discontent on the development saying that LK Advani is one of the pillars of the BJP and leaving him out of its candidate's list is an insult to the veteran leader.

"(Atal Bihari) Vajpayee ji, Advani-ji were the pillars of the BJP. Advani-ji is a senior man. And now how he has been left out. This is, of course, an insult to Advani-ji," Mamata Banerjee had said.

The BJP on March 21 released it's first list of 184 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls 2019 in which it was stated that BJP chief Amit Shah will make his Lok Sabha debut in 2019 polls from the Gandhinagar constituency, confirming that senior statesman will not be contesting from his bastion, thereby ending his almost 2-decade-long run as Gandhinagar's MLA.

LK Advani, tantamount to being one of the BJP's founding fathers, is the current Member of Parliament from Gandhinagar, and has been the MP from the constituency for the last five terms.
