  • Congress party on Tuesday released its election manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha polls
  • BJP party launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi and his party over the promises made in the manifesto which are against the national interest

Rahul Gandhi released the Congress' election manifesto for 2019 Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday in which the grand old party made an array of promises catering to numerous issues of the society. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Arun Jaitley launched a scathing attack on the Congress party and its president over the promises made in the election manifesto days ahead of the 2019 polls.

Addressing a press briefing in New Delhi on Tuesday afternoon, the Union Minister tore into the Congress manifesto and listed out the defaults in the promises made by the Rahul Gandhi-led party.

"The Congress party made public its manifesto for 2019 elections. the manifesto contains a solemn statement of the Congress president that whenever he makes a promise, he never breaks it. But when out of ignorance he makes unimplementable and dangerous promises. I am sure the country will not be in the mood to oblige him with the kind of promises which are contained in this manifesto," Arun Jaitley said.

Speaking on the promises made for the state of Jammu and Kashmir in the manifesto, he stated that some of the promises are 'positively dangerous'.

"Some of the ideas are positively dangerous. They are an agenda for the balkanization of India. Even though there was a drafting committee, but it appears that some of the important points have been drafted by the Congress president's friends in the 'Tukde Tukde gang' where it deals with Jammu and Kashmir and National security."

"This promise has been included to protect the Maoists and jihadis and to release them. One side they say the jawans should be termed martyred, they could not could it so we ensure provisions. Now they are saying that court proceedings should take place for the terrorists. Those people who laid down their lives for the country, you want them to be prosecuted at the behest of the terrorists or their friends, or relatives. Ingratitude is the biggest sin that any political party can commit. The country did the same."

"They say to dilute the presence of the forces so that stone pelters come on the roads, they escape easily."

Highlighting the Congress's promise of removing sedition, a law which has become redundant, according to Congress, Arun Jaitley says that with this promise Congress does not deserve even a single vote.

"What they have said is that from the IPC (Indian Penal Code), sedition will be removed. Being an anti-national will no longer be a crime. The party which makes such announcements, it does not deserve even a single vote."
