The politically vocal veteran actor and BJP candidate Kirron Kher's star campaigner Anupam Kher in an interaction with Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Republic Bharat's 'Poochta hai Bharat' spoke of the 'intolerant brigade' and the controversy over Akshay Kumar's citizenship.
The controversy over Akshay Kumar’s citizenship didn’t die down even after the actor clarified in a post that he never hid the fact that he held a Canadian passport. Kumar got flak from a section of the netizens. However, amid the row, Akshay’s co-star Anupam Kher came out in his support.
Speaking over which, Kher stated that the 'intolerent brigade' speaks of intolerance on national television and still fear-monger.
He said, "I have been a target since the beginning. I can see everything, I am very active on social media. I know how to fight from the front. I have come here by my own efforts. I am the kind of a person who can stand on the middle of the road, entertain them and earn money out of it. So I don't need to be scared. These are those less people, who are extremely intolerent."
Furthermore, he shared that he told Akshay Kumar to 'not fear' the backlash as they will try to 'demoralise' him.
"This intolerant brigade, who speak about intolerence in the country, those who say there is an emergency-like situation, we feel scared in the country. If you go and speak about fear on television channels, how could they be scared if you're telling the world that we feel scared in this country now. Then what is there to fear? You're not speaking in your drawing room. When I tweeted to Akshay Kumar, I told him don't pay attention to them, they will try to demoralise you," he added.
Another politically concious actress, Swara Bhasker retaliated to Anupam Kher's 'Tukde Tukde Gang' tweet wherein he said, 'I've heard a member from Tukde Tukde Gang is contesting elections from Begusarai. The one who can not be of his country, how can he be yours?'
To which, Bhasker responded saying, "Sir, I think you are talking about BJP's Bhopal candidate Pragya Thakur. Rightly said, the one who can't be for your country, who tried to break the country by conducting a terror attack, how could be for Bhopal or the Parliament. Jai Hind."
