Amid the raids carried out by the Income Tax Department, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath`s OSD (officer on special duty) Praveen Kakkar on Tuesday finally broke his silence over the search conducted at his residence and offices.

Alleging the raids to be a 'political operation', Kamal Nath close aide claimed that no 'objectionable' documents were found at his premises and that he is not connected to any 'hawala or political funds'.

"Income tax department's team came and broke into my house at night. Despite the two-day long raid, they didn't find any document that they could seize, they didn't recover any cash or jewellery either. The way they came was not acceptable. It was a political operation. They didn't find any objectionable documents. Talking about hawala or political funds, I am not connected to anything like that," Praveen Kakkar said while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

Kakkar's son Salil Kakkar was picked up on Monday by the I-T sleuths for interrogation, while I-T raids continued at various locations across the country including the residence of Ashwin Sharma, an associate of Praveen Kakkar. The I-T department officials conducted further raids at the premises of Kakkar in Indore.

On Sunday morning, I-T officials carried out raids at the residences of Nath's private secretary, Praveen Kakkar, in Indore and former advisor R K Miglani in Delhi, on charges of alleged tax evasion. I-T officials have been conducting searches at several locations in Indore, Bhopal, Goa, and NCR.
