Punjab Congress Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu will not apologise for the racist comments made against the Prime Minister and the BJP, wherein he called them 'Kaale Angrez'

Following the remark, the BJP asked the Election Commission to take cognisance of the speech and take an action against him.

The statement was made by Sidhu during a rally in Madhya Pradesh's Indore on Friday.

"Congress is the party that gave freedom to the country, it is the party of Maulana Azad & Mahatma Gandhi. They had given freedom from the British, now will give the people of Indore the freedom from Kaale Angrez," he said.

RP Singh, BJP's national secretary spoke to Republic TV where he asked the poll body to take action against the Punjab minister.

"Congress cannot accept anyone else to rule the country but the Gandhi dynasty. As per the Model Code of Conduct, you cannot ask for votes on the basis of caste, creed, colour and religion. I hope the Election Commission takes notice of the comment and takes action," he said.

BJP leader Giriraj Singh also reacted to the comment implying that the Congress leader has become Rahul Gandhi's puppet.

"Sidhu is a person who is influenced by his company. Sidhu does not understand India. After being around divisive people like Rahul Gandhi, now he does not understand who is white and who is dark," he said.

Akali Dal leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "He said that Nehru and Gandhi had given India's freedom, they have actually only ruled India. To call our own people 'Kaale Angrez'.. it is their mindset whoever agrees with them is right, whoever disagrees with them they kill them, call them 'Kaale Angrez'. He called Indians 'Kaale Angrez'. This is a horrible comment. Sidhu will do anything to become a controversy on TV. Congress is like the British as they will do anything to rule India."

Spokesperson for BJP GVL Narasimha also slammed Rahul Gandhi and Congress for the remark.

"The frustration of Congress party is there, definitely. The Congress seems to be nearing a century in hurling abuses against the honourable Prime Minister and every abuse they hurl at him is actually an insult to the nation. If there is an accusation of someone being an angrez it goes back to Rahul Gandhi as he is accused of being a British citizen. It is a very churlish comment. Punjab is slipping away from Congress hand. Sidhu is leading the abuse charge in Punjab and becoming the party's Mani Shankar Aiyer," he said.
