After concluding his 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held a press briefing at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi alongside party president Amit Shah and other senior BJP leaders.

With Amit Shah making his remarks first, PM Modi began his briefing by hailing India's secularism and unity and praising the conduct of the elections raising how many events had taken place concurrently unlike in the previous two general elections.

He said, "There were two elections, of 2009 and 2014, when the IPL had to be taken outside. Today when the government is capable, Ramzan, Easter, Hanuman Jayanti, Navratri all took place and so did the school exams. This is the strength of our country, this is a matter of pride for the country."

Speaking of the gruelling election campaign, he expressed gratitude to the people of India and said that the NDA would come to power with absolute majority for a second term.

He said, "It will happen after a long time in the country, our Government will come back with absolute majority for second consecutive time. It is a big thing in itself."

"The people of the country have decided that our government will be formed," he added.
