With close to two weeks for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to conclude, the Opposition has increased its attack at PM Narendra Modi with volley of words. Using the Hindu card, the Congress and TMC chief hit out at PM Modi calling him names like Duryodhana and Dushasana.
On Monday, Congress UP General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi had called PM Modi a snob like 'Duryodhana'.
"Our great epic Mahabharata, is evidence of this. Even Duryodhana was a snob. When Lord Krishna went to show him the path of truth, he tried to imprison lord Krishna too," she said.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam called PM Modi 'Aurangzeb'. Playing the Hindu card, he compared PM Modi to Aurangzeb saying that he 'destroyed temples and is charging money at the Baba Vishwanath temple"
"What I feel, is that people who have elected the candidate here is a modern-day Aurangazeb, because in Varanasi, in the name of the corridor, they have destroyed hundreds of temples, which was ordered by PM Modi. There is also a charge of Rs 550 for Baba Vishwanath temple. There was a time when Aurangzeb did gundagardi, tried to destroy the temple, people of Varanasi protected them. He also levied the jijya (tax) and committed atrocities on Hindus. Then, the people had opposed this. Today, the one who speaks about Hindu's wellbeing is destroying over Mandirs and levying taxes for Baba Vishwanath's darshan. I condemn and reject this modern day Aurangzeb," he said.
The name calling continued as TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also called him and the BJP leadership in Delhi 'Duryodhan-Dushasana'
"Let me tell you all that this is not a panchayat or a Vidhan Sabha election. This is an election of Delhi. And the government at Delhi governs the nation. They are sitting in Delhi like Duryodhan-Dushasana since the past five years. This is a government which empowers people who plan riots, who are involved in riots and bloodshed. This is the government that came up with demonetization and it is because of them that 12000 farmers committed suicide," he said.
