AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday launched an attack at Prime Minister Narendra Modi while targeting his rally in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, wherein the PM signed off his debut speech by chanting 'Jai Shri Ram'. Responding to the questions on PM Modi's 'Jai Shri Ram' chant, the AIMIM chief demanded the Election Commission to take note of the speech and issue a notice to the Prime Minister.
He questioned PM Modi's speech claiming that it is a clear 'violation of EC's model code of conduct', and asked what would have happened if he would have started his speech with 'Allah-hu-Akbar'.
"I would again request the Election Commission. Prime Minister has taken a vow to protect the Aastha (devotion). He should have said that as a Prime Minister I will protect constitutional morality, I will protect Baba Saheb Ambedkar's Constitution, but when Modi talks about Aastha, it is nothing but Hindu ideology, which is again a violation of model code of conduct," the AIMIM chief said.
Asaduddin Owaisi also hit out at PM Modi saying that he has stooped down to such a level that he has no development to show.
"The Prime Minister of the country has stooped down to such a level that he has no development to show. He has nothing to show as there is no employment. He brought disaster in the name of demonetisation. Despite sleeping for four and half hours, Pulwama happened. Now Modi talks about Aastha. This again is a clear violation. Had I talked in such a way? Had I started my speech by saying Allah-hu-Akbar? Had I said about Islam? What would have happened? Skies would have fallen by now. Because Modi has become so holy now. I hope Election Commission takes a note of it and issue him notice and the concerned DM should send a notice of his speech to the EC," Owaisi added.
On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi held a rally in Ayodhya after five years. The last time he did was as a Prime Ministerial candidate for the BJP in 2014. During the rally, the Prime Minister said that Ayodhya was the land of Lord Ram and pride of the country.
"This is the land of Maryada Purshotam Prabhu Ram. It is the pride of the nation," the Prime Minister said.
