PM Narendra Modi on Thursday during his speech in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh spoke about his vision for Kashi.

"About the development in Kashi, who is anybody to say that brought the development here, a place which is the abode of Lord Vishwanath. It is a resolution of a son and the way of life in Kashi which has brought the change. For Kashi, we are moving in a direction where there is science and spirituality, talent and tourism, modernisation without westernization. We cannot bring change to Kashi squarely by wearing Western glasses," he said

He also spoke about what Varanasi had given to him.

"Kashi has given so much love that this fakir has become mesmerised. Many question what change has Modi brought in Kashi. I want to tell you all what change Kashi brought in me. It is my good fortune that I could connect with the wisdom of Kashi.

Because of Kashi, I have come to believe that I will not think of anything except the betterment of the country. Be it the incident of Pulwama or Uri, I have only one mantra for every moment of my life which is  - India First"
