Mahendra Singh Dhoni might be the face of many brands but during the crucial Lok Sabha elections, he is probably one of the star campaigners for the Election Commission's campaign to vote.
Since Dhoni is likely to be the biggest draw for people to go out and exercise their electoral franchise, the poll booths 270, 271 and 271 in Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, which went to phase 6 of polls on Sunday, have hung his picture as a call to action urging people to vote. This comes after Dhoni's appeal on social media encouraging people to vote.
The poster reads, 'There is a bigger match than the World Cup where you can display your power. That is to vote. It is your real strength. Use your right to vote.' - MS Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has several times raised and spread messages important for the nation.
On May 6, 2019, the World Cup-winning former Team India skipper MS Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Dhoni had cast their votes at a polling booth in Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
After casting his ballot in Ranchi, Dhoni along with his little daughter Ziva made a video for the social media to spread awareness about the importance of voting.
Immediately after casting his vote, the ace cricketer took to Instagram and posted a video to urge the voters to 'use their power' this election. However, the video does not show MS Dhoni making the appeal but it's little Ziva who is urging the voters to vote just like her 'Mumma and Pappa'.
The country on May 12, Sunday went into the sixth phase of elections. On Sunday, 59 constituencies across six states and one union territory votes to seal the fate of 979 candidates. Voting is taking place for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Haryana, eight seats each in West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, seven in Delhi and four in Jharkhand.
