Amidst reports of rumours of NDA reach out to JD(S) in Karnataka, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Republic Party of India supremo Ramdas Athawale spoke to Republic TV's Editor-In-Chief Arnab Goswami where held Congress responsible for Kumaraswamy's tears and said that Congress was 'pressuring' the chief minister. He also said that if he joins the NDA alliance, he would be laughing daily.

He said, "If Kumaraswamy is crying that means he is hurt, Congress party after making him the chief minister is pressurising him and he can't take a decision. He is crying every week, Congress party making him cry. There were talks that BJP would form an alliance with JDS government but thinking of Karnataka's benefit, it is not right for Kumaraswamy to keep crying, he should be smiling.  "He is the chief minister and is now crying because he's disturbed of the Congress party but if he joins the BJP he will become the deputy chief minister then he will not cry. There are some problems, and Congress party is not fully supporting him and Congress is thinking they are in majority and JDS is in minority,"  he added.

Kumaraswamy during his breakdown claimed that if there was no coalition 'he could have taken some bold steps'.

"If the people had ensured my party won 120 seats I could have taken some bold steps", he said.

The former prime minister's emotional response was to growing criticism of his family's alleged nepotism with JD(S) fielding both his grandsons Nikil Kumaraswamy and Prajwal Revanna from party bastions of Mandya and Hassan respectively for the Lok Sabha polls.
