SCOOP: After Ramdas Athavale's overture to Kumaraswamy to join NDA, JD(S) sources claim CM post, Union Minister berths were offered

In a major development ahead of the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, sources from the JD(S) party has indicated that the NDA has reached out to HD Kumaraswamy, seeking the Karnataka Chief Minister to enter into an alliance with BJP in the state.

In a major development ahead of the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, sources from the JD(S) party have indicated that the NDA has reached out to HD Kumaraswamy, seeking the Karnataka Chief Minister to enter into an alliance with BJP in the state.

Sources have told that RPI (Republican Party of India) chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale sent an emissary to Kumaraswamy with the proposal seeking him to quit the alliance with Congress and join the NDA instead in the state of Karnataka.

Further, JD(S) sources told that the party's leadership was offered the chief ministerial position and Union berth if the National Democratic Alliance comes to power in 2019.

Earlier a video of the Karnataka CM, HD Kumaraswamy, emerged on Tuesday in which he was seen breaking down into tears at an event in Mandya district while addressing a gathering. 

Coming down heavily on media for "hampering governance", the JDS leader said:

"I am hurt deeply. From the day I became the chief minister they (media) never let me govern the state peacefully. Not one day they spared me. Media speculating about government collapse and hampering governance. It's my misfortune".

Furthermore, he complained about the coalition compulsions and claimed that if there was no coalition 'he could have taken some bold steps'.

"If the people had ensured my party won 120 seats I could have taken some bold steps", he said. 

As per a report by news agency PTI, Union Social Justice Minister and Republican Party of India(A) president Ramdas Athawale on April 15 said the Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state of Karnataka will not last for long and asked CM H D Kumaraswamy to join hands with BJP for the welfare of the state.

Terming the Congress party as "casteist", the Dalit leader also said that party president Rahul Gandhi should not dream about becoming Prime Minister of the country in the ensuing polls 2019.
