As seen in the video, Siddaramaiah who is standing shoulder to shoulder with Congress president Rahul Gandhi first pushes, then nudges, and then brushes him aside to have Kumaraswamy flank him.

Malviya spoke to Republic TV saying, "Dalits are quite marginalised and this is not just what we put out, but also what several Dalit leaders in the party from several locations have said. Congress have never allowed any Dalit leaders to rise, for eg, all senior positions, be it presidentship, or Prime Ministerial job, all are reseved for family".

Earlier on Saturday, in a big political scoop emerging from Uttar Pradesh, Congress was likely to field Priyanka Gandhi Vadra against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the battle for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat.

According to sources in the Congress camp, Priyanka Vadra has given her nod for the contest, with the final decision now resting with party president Rahul Gandhi. Furthermore, certain leaders of the Opposition are also insistent that the Congress General Secretary for UP East takes the battle directly to PM Modi. As per sources, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is currently in New Delhi, has had a word with Rahul Gandhi and told him to declare Priyanka as a candidate. Congress-ally NCP has also made the same request.
