Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy launched a scathing attack at the Election Commission after his vehicle was searched by the poll body's official. The EC officials had searched his Range Rover and vehicles in his convoy.

The JDS leader has said that the searches were politically motivated.

The EC officials, however, had searched other vehicles including the chopper of his political rival and former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa's chopper

Earlier, Kumaraswamy had made allegations against the Income Tax after raids were conducted on the houses of his party aides in Mandya.

"They(officials) themselves are thieves. They're unwantedly harassing people and candidates. People won't sit quiet. You can raid anyone you want to but there is a limit to all of this. During elections this is not done. As the chief minister of the state, they stopped me only at around 14 places at check posts. They say that Election Commission has given them a directive to conduct searches,  failing which they could come under scrutiny. They stopped me twice after I left Gokarna. Does this make any sense? Probably this time around the EC has transfered more officials than anytime in the past. Officials are all one. If I had to influence the officials by any chance to get an advantage in the polls then why they transfer them. If you see again the new officers will be posted under me. So what will they gain by doing this? They've changed around 5 SPs and transferred many more officials. If you still transfer officials then how will you get the work done from them? Do you call this an election? They've created a very shameful environment," Kumaraswamy said.

On Sunday, IT sleuths raided Karnataka Minister CS Puttaraju's house in Mysuru and Mandya. As per sources, the I-T officials had reached the minister's house at 4.30 am. They not only searched his house but also that of his nephew and went through the documents and IT returns of the minister.

Kumaraswamy alleged that the Centre had resorted to politics of vengeance using the income tax officials as its agents.
