'Brexit' abroad, 'RGexit' in Amethi, says Anurag Thakur mocking Rahul Gandhi for contesting second seat from Wayanad apart from Amethi

BJP MP and party's chief whip in Lok Sabha, Anurag Thakur has mocked the Congress party's decision to field Rahul Gandhi from a second seat in Kerala's Wayanad and contrasted the situation to 'Brexit' occurring in United Kingdom. 

The BJP leader comparing this scenario to 'Brexit' has called this episode 'RGexit' from Amethi. 

In a tweet Thakur said: In abroad there's 'Brexit' and in Amethi there are preparations for 'RGexit'

The Congress party confirmed that its chief Rahul Gandhi will contest from the Wayanad constituency in Kerala, apart from his bastion Amethi, in the upcoming Lok Sabha 2019 polls on Sunday.

This political development has sparked jibes from the BJP who have maintained that this move is owing to the fact that Rahul Gandhi is afraid to lose his Amethi seat. 

Union Minister and BJP contendor for the Amethi seat, Smriti Irani mocked Rahul Gandhi with #BhaagRahulBhaag after reports of the Congress president contending another seat surfaced.

When questioned if the Congress president has lost his confidence on Amethi, he Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala in-return questioned PM Modi leaving Gujarat and contending from Varanasi. 

Former Defence Minister and senior Congress leader AK Antony informed that following the request made by Congress' Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu units, the party considered the idea and asked Rahul Gandhi about it, who went ahead and said yes.

"Finally, he has given his consent, and now I am happy to inform that Rahul Gandhi will contest from Wayanad in Kerala," said AK Antony in the presence of Randeep Surjewala and many other party leaders.
