Congress and BJP have equal prospects in Madhya Pradesh's Malwa region

The Malwa region of Madhya Pradesh, which is home to 45 constituencies, witnessed a massive swing in favor of BJP in 2013 back in 2013, but now has settled down in the middle with the BJP and Congress both projected to get 22 seats. 

As per the 2011 census, this region is home to 1.41 crore people and is in western Madhya Pradesh and broadly represents the states industries since Indore is being developed as the Industrial corridors. 

Politically, at the heart of the region is the religious town of Ujjain which saw a lot of campaigning, while the region has been traditionally going with the BJP, Pradeep projects a vote down the middle this time around which may be a factor for the soft hindutva played by congress combined with the farmer agitation against eh Shiv Raj government.

With a record of 84.19% voting in the malwa region on November 28, clubbed with Pradeep's projection that the BJP is slated to lose 19 seats from their 2013 performance only solidifies the narrative that the police bullets in mandsaur in June last year which had a bearing on Mandsaur, Ratlam , Neemuch, Ujjain, Shajapur, Agar, malwa, Sehore and rural areas of Indore may be swinging against the BJP.    
 
Malwa which has been the bastion of the BJP saw Narendra Modi personally campaign as Gujarat Chief Minister addressing 11 rallies here, given the fact that he has addressed 10 rallies here this time around will it have a bearing.

In crucial Madhya Pradesh, electoral campaigning from both BJP and Congress saw controversial attacks on each other on the basis of caste and religion. Massive outrage triggered in the political landscape in the state over the video of Congress Madhya Pradesh Chief Kamal Nath resolving to Muslim votes to win election. Following this controversy, there were racial and casteist attacks on the Prime Minister from the Congress party. 
 
The people of Madhya Pradesh have kept their faith in the leadership of BJP leader Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who has been in power for three consecutive terms since 2003 in the state. With 2018 assembly elections, Congress is fielding to drive BJP out of power by contesting Arun Yadav against the incumbent Chouhan.
In 2013 assembly elections, BJP won 165 seats out of 230 seats while Congress secured 58 seats at the second position.

With the assembly elections, the final countdown to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun. The results of the assembly polls in all five states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh will profoundly determine the national mood. 
Results for all 5 states will be declared on December 11.
