Republic TV has published the poll of polls for the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections that were held on November 28, including exit polls by CVoter and Jan Ki Baat.

The CVoter exit poll has projected a vote for change going to the Congress which has the advantage, though the BJP and long-time Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan have the benefit of the womens' vote, indicating a cliffhanger.

The Jan Ki Baat poll, meanwhile, projects the reverse -- a slight advantage to the BJP.

Ensuingly, the poll of polls projects an absolute neck-and-neck fight between the two national parties:

In critical Madhya Pradesh, campaigning by both BJP and Congress saw controversial attacks being levelled, often times on the basis of caste and religion. A massive controversy broke out following the release of a video of Congress Madhya Pradesh Chief Kamal Nath resolving to target Muslim votes to win the election. There were also personal attacks launched on the Prime Minister, notably, by Congress' Raj Babbar.

The people of Madhya Pradesh have for a long time kept their faith in the leadership of BJP leader Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan who has been in power for three consecutive terms since 2003.

In 2013 assembly elections, BJP won 165 seats out of 230 seats while Congress secured 58 seats at the second position.

With the assembly elections, the final countdown to the 2019 Lok Sabha elections has begun. The results of the assembly polls in all five states, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Mizoram and Chhattisgarh will profoundly determine the national mood.

Results for all 5 states will be declared on December 11.
