As per the exit polls, Congress is likely to have better prospects in Chambal in Madhya Pradesh than the BJP. There are 34 constituencies in the region.
BJP will lose five seats from its 2013 tally which will go straight to the Congress. The direct transfer of votes to Congress means the party will get it five more than what it had got in 2013. Despite the BJP securing 20 out of 34 seats in the previous assembly polls, the INC is slated to win this time.
Chambal is where the Scindia family members have been contesting from traditionally. Digvijay Singh's home constituency also falls in Chambal, which may help the Congress win. Digvijay had won here in 1977, 1980, 1998 and 2003. His son Jaivardhan Singh is contesting from there this time.
Mayawati's BSP also has been a key player in the region. In 2008, her party had won 20% votes in Chambal
