Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has stirred yet another controversy. On Friday, during a speech to during a public meeting in Indore in Madhya Pradesh, he made a shocking statement calling PM Narendra Modi, BJP, Kaale Angrez (British).

"Congress is the party that gave freedom to the country, it is the party of Maulana Azad & Mahatma Gandhi. They had given freedom from the British, now will give the people of Indore the freedom from Kaale Angrez (Unhone 'goron' se aazadi di thi aur tum Indore walo ab 'Kaale Angrezo' se iss desh ko nijaat dilayoge). We will give freedom from these chors and chowkidars," he said.

On May 10, Sidhu's rally saw a ruckus between Congress workers and BJP supporters, in the presence of the Punjab Congress Minister.

A clash had erupted after Prime Minister Narendra Modi supporters overpowered Sidhu's rally with chants of 'Modi, Modi' in retaliation to which Congress party workers could been seen throwing chairs and targetting the sloganeers, who then eventually left the location.

However, amid the brawl between the two, a shocking response came from the Congress leader who instead of dousing the fight, asked the Narendra Modi supporters, "Are you running away from your Guru'.

A similar incident occurred in Haryana's Rohtak constituency a day back, wherein the crowd gathered was chanting 'Modi Modi' when Sidhu was addressing the rally.

Following this, a woman reportedly threw a 'chappal' at the leader, which missed its mark. Later, when detained by the police, she revealed that she had thrown her shoe as they (Congress)  was allegedly 'talking against Modi.'

This is not the first time Sidhu has been attacked by disgruntled crowds. Congress' star campaigner Sidhu's convoy was attacked with tomatoes while he was on his way to campaign in Congress bastion of Amethi where Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi faced Union Minister Smriti Irani in the previous poll phase on May 6.

The video that has been accessed by Republic TV shows people throwing tomatoes and pamphlets on the Congress leader's convoy while he was on his way to Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. Men surrounding the convoy were shouting slogans of "Sidhu go back" and "Pakistan vapas jao."
