Asaduddin Owaisi hits back at Sadhvi Pragya after BJP Bhopal candidate targets 26/11 martyr Hemant Karkare, asks 'how dare BJP insult our martyrs like this?'

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has responded to BJP Bhopal Lok Sabha election contender Sadhvi Pragya targeting 26/11 martyr and late former Mumbai ATS chief Hemant Karkare by saying that he died as a result of her curse after he had questioned her in custody during the investigation into the 2008 Malegaon Blasts case.

Taking to Twitter, Owaisi attacked Sadhvi Pragya, a key accused in the Malegaon blasts which had resulted in the death of six people and several injuries, and defended Karkare.

“Hemant Karkare died fighting people not very different from yourself. He didn’t die because a terror accused ‘felt bad’ & ‘cursed’ him. The man died fighting to protect our rights to vote & elect a government,” wrote Owaisi.

He furiously questioned the BJP asking, “How DARE BJP insult our martyrs like this?”

The AIMIM chief also remarked on Sadhvi Pragya's 'the election is a Dharamyudh (religious battle)' statement saying: ‘they make a question of dharma/Astha as if that’s what’ll create jobs’.

“Elections are elections, not dharmayuddha. But how’s BJP to know that? They make everything a question of dharma/astha as if that’s what’ll create jobs.”

Asaduddin Owaisi added, “What if a ‘daadhi-topiwala’ Asad had said this is jehad? Wonder which pole he’d be hanging by now.”

The BJP fielded candidate for the Bhopal Lok Sabha polls addressed a gathering on Friday and accused the former Mumbai ATS Chief of holding her in custody illegally and trying to concoct evidence against her while investigating the 2008 blasts.

"The officer appointed by the Security Council for investigating the case (Malegaon blasts) was Hemant Karkare. He (Karkare) was told that 'if you don't have any evidence against her, then leave Sadhvi'. It is against the law to hold a person without evidence. He had told that I will do anything and get evidence from anywhere, but will not spare Sadhvi. This was his craftiness. This was treason. It was against duty." she said.

Talking ill of the principal investigator in the Malegaon blast case Karkare, Thakur had added:  

"He asked me many questions regarding the incident. I said I don't know, God knows. And he replied that for knowing the answer, do I need to go and ask God? And I said, if needed, you should go and visit him. You will find it difficult to believe, when I cursed him that 'you will be annihilated', and just over a month later (which is the period of mourning when a person dies), he was killed by terrorists, marking his end."
