Days after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Kamal Nath dared colleague Digvijaya Singh to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the 'toughest seat' in the state, the veteran party leader has been declared as a candidate from the Bhopal constituency on Saturday.

"He said you decide where should I contest from, so I decided. I said contest from Bhopal," said MP CM Kamal Nath as quoted by news agency ANI.

Digvijaya Singh, a former chief minister and multiple times Lok Sabha MP, is currently a Rajya Sabha member.

Earlier, Kamal Nath had hinted there were 2-4 seats in Madhya Pradesh on which the Congress party had not won in the past '30-35 years'.

"I have requested Digvijaya Singh that if he wants to contest Lok Sabha polls, then he should do so from the toughest seat. There are 2-3-4 seats from where we have not won elections since the last 30-35 years," Nath had reporters in Chhindwara.

Responding to his cryptic statement, Congress functionaries has asserted that he may have been referring to Bhopal and Indore Lok Sabha seats, both of which have been held by the BJP since 1989.

There have been reports of an internal ego clash between the two senior leaders of the grand old party. Digvijaya Singh and Kamal Nath engaged in a war of world after Nath took over as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh post Assembly elections. Digvijaya Singh had also expressed keenness in fighting the elections if Rahul Gandhi asks him to.
