In an embarrassment for the Congress party, #NoShowPriyanka and "Priyanka Vadra Road Show" started trending simultaneously on Twitter on Wednesday as videos went viral on the social-networking platform showing a meagerly crowd at the party's much-vaunted General Secretary's roadshow in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain.
Here's a screenshot of both trends:
On Tuesday, Congress' star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi carried out a roadshow in Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain following her visits to nearby temples. However, as seen in the videos circulating on social media, it seems like the roadshow was not a success as it could not gather a huge crowd.
The undated and unverified videos posted on Twitter show what is unmistakably an attempt at a roadshow. In some videos, Priyanka Vadra can be seen waving from atop her vehicle, however, it isn't immediately apparent whom she is hailing as there are barely any people around. In one video, the vehicle can be seen speeding through the streets - very unlike how a roadshow procession is generally meant to slowly meander through a city.
Take a look at some of the social media responses with the #NoShowPriyanka:
During her visit to Madhya Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi offered prayers at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain, along with senior party leader and CM Chief Minister Kamal Nath.
The Congress party's star campaigner has been going all across the country to campaign for her party's candidate ahead of the last phase of the polls.
