Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has abstained from drawing himself into any controversy following Shatrughan Sinha's remark regarding how among all other freedom fighters, the Congress party also belongs to Jinnah, despite being present at the rally where the statement was made.

Shatrughan Sinha was addressing a poll rally at Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh, where he was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath. Despite sharing the same stage, Kamal Nath denied hearing the 'Congress belongs to Muhammad Ali Jinnah remark.

It is a party, they have played a significant role in the development of the country, in advancing the country, in country's freedom, and therefore I joined this party, and once I am here, I will not go back."
