  • EC has ordered a probe into Congress' Bhopal Lok Sabha candidate Digvijaya Singh's controversial 'Sadhu campaign' when he performed a 'yagna' along with 'Computer baba' and other saints
  • On Tuesday,  Computer Baba along with thousands of sadhus had performed a 'pooja' in Bhopal for Digvijaya Singh in Bhopal while undertaking 'Hat Yoga. Both Singh and his wife participated in the pooja.

Further developments have occurred in Madhya Pradesh's controversial 'Sadhu campaign' as the Election Commission's district magistrate, on Thursday, has ordered an inquiry into Congress candidate for Bhopal constituency, Digvijaya Singh for performing a 'yagna' along with 'Computer baba' and other saints, as per Republic TV reports.
Earlier, the BJP had reportedly filed a complaint against the Congress for the same and the EC too has reportedly sent a notice regarding the 'Sadhu campaign' to Congress leader Digvijaya Singh.

On Tuesday,  Computer Baba, who was granted the status of a minister in BJP government along with thousands of sadhus had performed a 'pooja' in Bhopal for the Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh in Bhopal while undertaking 'Hat Yoga.' Both Singh and his wife participated in the 'pooja'.

Talking to the media, Computer Baba had said:

 “BJP sarkaar 5 saal mein Ram Mandir bhi nahi bana paayi. Ab Ram Mandir nahi toh Modi nahi."

On further investigation by Republic TV, it was found that the Sadhus were allegedly unaware about the campaign and don't have anything to do with the party. Talking to Republic TV, one of the Sadhu said: 

"Computer Baba called us and all the Mahatma for Bhandara. We came here and got to know that we have to talk in favour of Congress. But we have nothing to do with the party, Congress or BJP. We live the life of wanderers. We get about 100-5000 as Dakshina. Let's see how much we get. As of now, we have nothing. This is a betrayal. We will vote for those who will work for us. We are here for computer Baba. We are not here for any campaign. I have no idea what is going on."

After the 'pooja', Computer Baba had accompanied Singh in a roadshow on Wednesday which was dampened by chants of  'Modi, Modi'. Following this, as per sources, there has been a complaint filed against those who sloganeered. The roadshow created controversy for having police personnel in civil uniform who had been forced to wear saffron scarves.

Congress veteran Digvijaya Singh will contest from the Bhopal constituency of Madhya Pradesh against BJP's Sadhvi Pragya who is an accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts, where polling will take place on May 12.
