Congress Attacks Priyanka Chaturvedi After She Quits To Join Shiv Sena

  • Congress leader Sanjay Jha has slammed Priyanka Chaturvedi for resigning from Congress and joining its rival Shiv Sena saying; Apparently 'Shiv Sena-BJP alliance had no goons', he's said
  • He further said that the change in her stance happened within a week after she mocked Union Minister Smriti Irani for her qualification

Slamming his former Congress colleague Priyanka Chaturvedi for resigning from Congress and joining its rival Shiv Sena within hours, National Spokesperson of Congress Sanjay Jha on Friday said that apparently 'Shiv Sena-BJP alliance had no goons' referring to Chaturvedi's statement that "lumpen goons" were given preference over serious workers in the Indian National Congress (INC).

He tweeted his response saying the 'self-righteous nonsense is sickening'.

Referring to Priyanka Chaturvedi's earlier jibe at Union Minister for Textiles and BJP Leader Smriti Irani in a press conference where she mocked her qualifications, he said that the change in her stance happened within a week.

Earlier on the same day, in a sudden shock to the Congress amid the Lok Sabha elections, Priyanka Chaturvedi, one of the most vocal faces in the party, had officially quit from all posts and primary membership of the party. She had also submitted an official resignation letter addressed to Congress president which read:

"I had joined the INC as a member of Youth Congress in Mumbai 10 years back as I believed in the ideology of the party and your vision of inclusive, liberal, progressive politics. In the last few weeks, certain things have convinced me that my service was not valued in the organisation and that I have reached the end of the road."

Senior Congress Leader Kapil Sibal had said in response to her resignation that 'it was between her and the party.'

Following her sudden departure from Congress, Chaturvedi joined Shiv Sena and was officially inducted into the party in the presence Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and president of Yuva Sena, Aditya Thackrey at Matoshree.

"She strongly defended the Congress in the past. I am proud that she will be a part of Shiv Sena now," said the Sena chief.
