Here's what Sanjay Nirupam had to stay after being sacked by Rahul Gandhi as Mumbai Congress Chief

Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has issued his first statement hours after being sacked as the Congress Mumbai chief by Rahul Gandhi-led party. Taking to Twitter just minutes after he was replaced as the president of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) by Milind Deora, Nirupam wrote that he has chosen to focus on the Lok Sabha election after being given the ticket from the North West Mumbai constituency. He further sought the blessings of the people ahead of the contest. 

He wrote:

Later in another tweet, he congratulated his colleague Milind Deora over the appointment as the new Mumbai Cong chief.

He tweeted: “Congratulations to @milinddeora for becoming new president of MRCC. My best wishes to him. We will work together as a team.”

Meanwhile, after replacing Nirupam, Deora took to Twitter and posted a statement thanking Congress president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi over his appointment.

42-year-old Milind Deora has twice been a Member of the Lok Sabha from the Mumbai South constituency, and had served as the Minister of State for Communications and IT and Shipping under the UPA-2. 

Sanjay Nirupam has been a member of Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra from 1996 to 2006 further being elected to the Lok Sabha from Mumbai North seat in 2009. Congress has now given him a ticket to contest from Mumbai North-west Lok Sabha seat, which is currently held by Shiv Sena party leader Gajanan Chandrakant.
