Virat Kohli won't be able to vote in Mumbai on April 29 for this Lok Sabha General Elections. According to the reports, the Indian cricket captain applied to vote through online procedure but he got late to register because the last date to apply was March 30. And Kohli missed the deadline.

A senior officer from election commission office told a daily, "The application of Virat Kohli has been received. However, we have kept it on pending. He won't be able to vote for current Lok Sabha elections because it is too late. Therefore we have put his application on hold, his application will be considered for the next elections."

Kohli wanted to cast his vote from his Worli resident in Mumbai, the reports said.

The reports also suggest that Virat's team also tried to get his name on the voter's list but failed.

"His team made several calls and tried a lot to get his name registered in the voting list. However, we made them understand that they have already missed the deadline,"  a report quoted an official of the Election Commission as saying.

In March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle and tagged Virat Kohli, along with MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma and wrote: "You are always setting outstanding records on the cricketing field but this time, do inspire the 130 crore people of India to set a new record of high voter turnout in the upcoming elections. When this happens, democracy will be the winner!" [sic]

Meanwhile, during Phase 3, prominent cricketers like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Yusuf Pathan also missed voting in Gujarat.
