With the 2019 elections around the corner, Republic TV caught up with President of Republican Party of India Ramdas Athawale, who is currently the Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment in the Narendra Modi government, and represents Maharashtra in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India's Parliament.

Outspoken, headstrong and fearless, Mr. Athawale shared the story behind his rise to the top as he spent a day with Republic TV.  From student politics to Parliament, he is a leader who always stood for the rights of Dalits. On this show, he also shared his experiences following a split in the Dalit Panther movement in 1974.

While he has been in public and media glare for decades now, Ramdas Athawale is a very private man. On this show, we conversed with him about his experiences as a student, his relationship with his family and also his other passions.

Watch in the video above, 'On The Road' with a Union Minister, a mass leader, a force to reckon with, Ramdas Athawale, who clearly shows that Maharashtra 2019 election is not only about BJP- Shivsena but also RPI(A) who has been an integral part in NDA.
