Deol cast his vote at a polling booth in Vile Parle, Mumbai. His brother, Bobby Deol, who had accompanied the ‘Ghayal’ star to Punjab, also exercised his franchise.

Deol has declared total assets, including that of his wife, as Rs 87.18 crore in his nomination.

In a massive appeal, Sunny Deol spoke in Punjabi to the people of Gurdaspur, urging them to vote in huge numbers in the Lok Sabha elections. He went onto enunciate his famous dialogue from the Bollywood movie 'Gadar', saying "Ye dhai kilo ka haath jis par padhta hai, wo banda uthta nhi, uth jata hai".

Adding that he might not know much about politics, he said that he is a true patriot.

"I would like to say thank you to everyone who has come here to support me. Ye dhai kilo ka haath jis par padhta hai, wo banda uthta nhi, uth jata hai. I received this power from the love all of you have given me. It is because of you I am standing here. I have come here because you have called me here. My father said that I am in every Punjabi's heart. I love my public with whole of my heart. I may not know about politics, but I am patriotic. I have come here to connect with everyone you so that country reaches the top. I am with you, Modi ji is with you. All of us will win. I will fulfil all your wishes, I only want you to connect with me," Sunny Deol said speaking at his first public rally.

The newly-inducted BJP leader also took to share some pictures from the rally, thanking the people of Gurdaspur.
